Description
The iconic Super Sexe neon sign was destroyed in a fire on October 31 2021. There were many opportunities to preserve the sign before this, but now it is too late.
I wanted to commemorate this Montreal landmark as a print in my own style. Only 10 copies were produced.
They were made using the linocut process and each print has slight differences due to this technique.
Each one was hand printed on a textured canvas paper and signed and numbered, and comes in a protective sleeve.
“What has been lost in this space is decades of working class women’s history in this city.” – Alex Tigchelaar
Some people might not think something like this is ‘worthy’ of preservation. But there is a lot of history and strong resilient women behind these places, and I think that is worth preserving.
